Appointments – What to expect
We aim to develop professional, respectful relationships with our clients and their treating practitioners. Appointments are held in quiet and confidential premises. We always encourage open communication and feedback on progress and treatment preferences.
Structure of sessions
Psychology sessions generally run for 55 minutes
The number of sessions required depends on the individual person and circumstances. As a general rule, it is preferable to book in 2-3 weekly/fortnightly sessions initially and then spread the sessions out. This allows time for implementation and practice of strategies between sessions
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is assured. Psychologists cannot release information disclosed in sessions unless we believe the client is a risk to themselves or others or we are required to by a court of law. We will always seek to discuss this with clients before any release of information
GP Referral
With a referral from a GP, clients can utilise a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) that allows for up to 10 visits per calendar year. Clients should book a double session with their GP to complete a MHCP
Currently Medicare provide a rebate for clients. There is generally a gap between the rebate and the amount charged by the psychologist. A reduced rate may be available with a health care card
Private payments, private health funds and other compensation schemes
Clients are welcome to attend on a full-fee paying basis
Private health rebates are also available. The amount will depend on the private health care fund
We also see clients of WorkSafe, TAC and NDIS
