Provision of evidence based treatment

Assessment is the cornerstone of all treatment provided, it is ongoing and used to inform treatment planning. The focus of therapy is on managing and coping with distressing mental and physical symptoms by assessing and changing perceptions and associations between physical sensations, thought, emotions and physiological responses that often lead to a restricted, hypervigiliant lifestyle, and work towards meaningful engagement with life.

A variety of therapies that are tailored to client's particular needs and preferences are used:

  • Education on the interaction between your psychological and physical health, most particularly in the areas of gut, pelvic health and chronic pain.

  • Clinical Hypnosis to help develop new outlooks, shift fused emotions and thoughts and reduce physical health symptoms

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to challenge old beliefs, reframe unhelpful thoughts and change behaviours

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) to reduce trauma and anxiety symptoms

  • Stress management including breathing and relaxation techniques

  • Mindfulness and other Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) strategies to move towards acceptance of unexpected changes in your life

  • Schema therapy to work on ingrained patterns of responses
